Vinho Visit 17th April 2009

Vinho School & Ladies Market Garden Visit

Rosa explains to a teacher from Vinho School how to plant vegetables in stages into the recently prepared nursery to increase the harvesting period, after handing over some of the vegetable seeds that we received yesterday from the Director of Agriculture in Nhamatanda.

A medicinal plant one of two Artemisia plants given to us by the sisters at the mission near Manica.

At the Vinho Ladies Market Garden, the tomatoes that have been planted out are looking healthy. The pesticide we purchased has had the desired effect and the vegetables are free of pests.

Two lettuce plants are pictured above, nicely mulched and they have transplanted well. We told the ladies they will have to transplant the rest of the seedlings quickly because they are getting too big to transplant.

The onion seedlings are looking much better now and should be planted out before bulbs begin to form.
