Questions relating to the supply of future global food supplies;

1. Will soils that have been extensively and intensively farmed on a commercial scale, be reduced almost to parent material, and therefore require more rehabilitation to be farmed using more natural, sustainable farming systems?

2. If the answer to the above question is ‘yes, soils that have been extensively and intensively farmed on a commercial scale do require more rehabilitation’ then does the future food supply of our planet lie in all major producers having to farm using organic farming practices?

3. Why organic farming, is it a sustainable alternative?

4. Are we making a big fuss about nothing?

I know what my views are, and I believe whole heartedly in my views. I do believe that we have to revert to using more natural farming systems and that the closer we get to imitating nature, the more productive this planets agriculture will become.

LARGE SCALE HYDROPONICS:

Modern agriculture is heading for meltdown. Such is the impact upon our precious soils, because of the introduction of unnatural farming systems. Soils are gradually being reduced to basic parent material and farmers have to apply all of the nutrients that plants need through fertilisation. I doubt this worlds natural resources will hold out for much longer, and this makes 'Large Scale Hydroponics' an unsustainable option. Go for organic, that is where the answers lie.
